Award Recognizes Entrepreneurial Excellence in Master Category


LATROBE, Pa., (June 22, 2009) – Kennametal Inc. (NYSE: KMT) announced today that Chairman, President and CEO, Carlos Cardoso, received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2009 Award in the Master category for the Upstate New York, Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia region. According to Ernst & Young LLP, the award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who are building and leading dynamic, growing businesses. Cardoso was selected by an independent panel of judges, and the award was presented at a gala event at the Carnegie Music Hall Foyer in Pittsburgh, PA on June 19, 2009.

In accepting the honor, Carlos Cardoso said, “I have learned in my career that the people around you make all the difference between success and failure—build the best team and you assure success, settle for less and you fail. Therefore, I accept this award on behalf of the entire world-class Kennametal team.”

The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year awards celebrate their 23rd anniversary this year. The program honors entrepreneurs who have demonstrated exceptionality in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. “
